The Garmin Astro 220 Receiver is modified from the 60 CSx handheld receiver that is the workhorse of the Garmin handheld line. This handheld GPS receiver will allow you to keep up to 20 tracks and 50 routes. With additional maps downloaded it will allow turn-by turn navigation, can keep you safe when offroad with topographic maps or show you the best way to get where you are going. You can select on-road or off-road direction finding and can switch from one mode to another without reloading your end point.
Dog tracks can be saved and overlay any maps that are installed on your device. When you are done for the day, the tracks can be uploaded to your mapping software. Garmin makes Basecamp available free for this function. Maptech is also compatible with Garmin devices.
While this Receiver doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that are available in the Garmin Astro 320 and is older technology, this unit is still available with an updated DC-40 collar and is adequate for most needs.
